TexProtects Public Policy Committee
TexProtects’ Public Policy Committee is the heart of where the organization launches its ideas and formulates its concepts on the broad-scale systemic change needed to improve the Texas child protection and judicial systems as well as ways to bring evidence-based child abuse prevention programs to scale statewide.
TexProtects employs an intricate system of collaboration and research to develop priorities and agenda items, which truly reflect our members’ concerns by incorporating their input. The committee is comprised of key DFW community partners and stakeholders that meet monthly in the interim legislative session to develop proposals that result in legislative priorities.
The TexProtects Public Policy Committee identifies issues, researches solutions and distributes the results for priority ranking in a survey to TexProtects' 9,500 members and other child advocates statewide. These priorities are shared with the statewide Child Protection Roundtable, which TexProtects facilitates.
TexProtects’ Public Policy Committee and the Child Protection Roundtable collaborate to produce legislative agendas and end-of-session scorecards tracking the progress of those agendas. Past agendas and scorecards may be seen in our Legislative Resource Center.
