Statewide Home Visiting Consortium
During the fall of 2012, TexProtects organized the Texas Home Visiting Consortium, consisting of representatives from the evidence-based and promising home visiting programs throughout the state of Texas. The mission of the Consortium is to bring together Texas home visiting programs to increase the awareness of home visiting in Texas and to coordinate legislative efforts. The current home visiting program models that are members of the Home Visiting Consortium include:
- Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)
- Healthy Families
- Healthy Start
- Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP)
- Parents as Teachers (PAT)
- Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)
The Home Visiting Consortium (HVC) developed language for Home Visiting Accountability Act (SB 426), filed at the beginning of the 83rd Legislative Session by the Honorable Senator Jane Nelson. This piece of legislation, which TexProtects endorsed, ensures that Texas focuses future investment on evidence-based home visiting programs, ensures that programs are held accountable for their outcomes and are continuously evaluated for implementation fidelity and effectiveness in Texas.
