Profiles in Prevention: Anne Heiligenstein
Consultant, Casey Family Programs
Child Protection Roundtable Member
Why is this issue important to you?
I work with Casey Family Programs and we partner with child welfare agencies, families, policymakers and courts to help reduce the need for foster care, increase the safety and success of children and strengthen the resilience of families. Every child deserves a safe, permanent and loving family and it's our goal to help make that happen.
What prompted you to get involved?
After serving for 30 years in Texas' health and human services programs, I retired as the Commissioner of the Department of Family and Protective Services. I am passionate about keeping children safe and helping them grow up as happy and productive adults. Working with Casey Family Programs allows me to continue to advocate for Texas children and their families.
