Dallas, Texas — TexProtects, the Texas Association for the Protection of Children, announced today that donations for their 2016 Awards Gala are nearing $500,000 one week before the event (October 20). “This is a record year for our organization,” says Madeline McClure, founder and CEO of TexProtects, which focuses on the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Texas. “We are so thankful for Alliance Data, which is not only the lead sponsor of this event, but also a valued partner, helping us apply innovative technology to combating child maltreatment in Texas.”
Alliance Data, a leading global provider of data-driven marketing and loyalty solutions, is serving as the 2016 Awards Gala Presenting Sponsor for the third year in a row. “In addition to collaboration on projects throughout the year, Alliance Data is excited to provide additional operating capital to TexProtects through our sponsorship,” said Dana Beckman, Alliance Data director of corporate affairs. “TexProtects’ proven track record of using evidence-based data to bring about legislative change is one of the reasons we were drawn to their work. But, not only are they the best at what they do – providing a voice for Texas’ most vulnerable community – their return on investment is outstanding. For every $1 invested, TexProtects is able to turn that into $21.”
“This past year, we were able to match our expertise in data-driven marketing technology with students from UT Dallas to create the ZipRisk map tool for TexProtects,” added Beckman. “This interactive tool will help philanthropists, legislators and social service providers around the state identify the zip code areas with the highest risk factors for abuse and neglect, so that prevention efforts, funding and social services may be targeted to the greatest effect.”
In addition to Alliance Data, event underwriters also include “Children’s Champions” Madeline and Jim McClure, Bob and Joan O’Brien, Margot and Ross Perot, Lisa K. Simmons, and Mary and Steve Watson, all at the $25,000 level. “Children’s Protector” sponsors at the $10,000 level include AdvoCare, Brenda and Bob Barkley, John and Dorothy Castle, Serena and Tom Connelly, John and Pat Harloe, Lyda Hill, The Hoglund Foundation, The Eugene McDermott Foundation, and the Sidhu-Singh Family Foundation.
Funds raised through the gala provide operating support to TexProtects, which strives to reduce and prevent child abuse and neglect trauma through research, advocacy and education at a statewide level. The Dallas-based nonprofit effects change by mobilizing support and educating the public, legislators and other decision makers, community leaders and stakeholders, to advocate for increased investments in evidence-based child abuse prevention programs, Child Protective Services (CPS) reform and treatment programs for victims.
“As we head into the 85th Legislative session this January, we are so honored to have so many wonderful supporters, including legislators, who share our commitment to preventing childhood trauma and promoting strong Texas families by investing in our organization,” said McClure. “We at TexProtects fight hard at the Texas Legislature and other policy-making bodies to channel resources into the most effective, evidence-based child abuse prevention programs, which yield a huge return on investment for taxpayers and our donors. In fact, for every $1 invested in TexProtects’ research, education and advocacy, TexProtects has demonstrated a return of nearly $21 in state funding invested in prevention programs since our inception in 2004. And for every $1 we secure in state funding, taxpayers save an additional $2.50-6.00 in reduced ’downstream’ state costs dealing with child maltreatment consequences.”
The 2016 TexProtects Awards Gala Honorary Chairs are Mary Jalonick of the Dallas Foundation and Brent Christopher, President of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation. Event Chairs include Tegwin Pulley and Whitney Strauss. The event will also recognize Children’s Champion awardee, Texas Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honorable Joe Straus, for his longtime commitment to the protection, education and care of abused children. Guests will also hear from Dr. David Olds, founder of the Nurse-Family Partnership, an evidence-based child abuse prevention program which TexProtects brought to Texas in 2006 and has expanded to serve over 11,000 vulnerable Texas families and children to date. The event will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at The Adolphus Hotel, with a VIP Reception at 6:15 pm, followed by dinner and program at 7:00 pm in the Grand Ballroom.
