Over 50,000 children are confirmed abuse victims each year in Texas.
In 2003, 184 children died from abuse and neglect in Texas.
Texas is home to approximately three million adult survivors of child abuse and neglect.
Imagine the power of those voices mobilized to speak out for the thousands of Texas
children who each year also suffer from abuse and neglect.
Survivors can’t reverse the abuse they suffered, but they can prevent the abuse of
innocent others. Helping others is Healing.
To make a difference, action is necessary. And, as we also see in news reports, the most
essential advocacy starts at the legislative level, with governmental funding and commitment to
child abuse prevention.
TexProtects monitors relevant
legislative developments in Austin, informs members on what’s happening, and provides instructions
for quick and easy but effective advocacy action. TexProtects members advocate for better
policies, reforms and appropriate increases in state and local funding.
